NorthCountry Federal Credit Union Aims to Empower Survivors by Partnering with the Vermont Network
South Burlington, Vermont – This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, NorthCountry Federal Credit Union (NorthCountry) partnered with the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (Vermont Network) to address some of the financial hurdles often faced by survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Through its Pathways program and Share Secured Loans, NorthCountry aims to uplift survivors and help them further along the path to independence.
“The economic impacts of domestic and sexual violence are pervasive and long-lasting. Programs like this are important to help survivors make meaningful steps toward repairing their credit and saving for the future,” says Kara Casey, Director of Housing Training and Technical Assistance at Vermont Network. “NorthCountry has been a great partner! They took the time to work with us to understand the needs of survivors, and help to create a program that is flexible, personal and survivor-centered.”
Every member of the community deserves an equitable opportunity to be financially empowered. Through discussions with Vermont Network, NorthCountry identified how it could be part of the solution to achieving this with survivors. “This partnership is about more than financial services—it’s about trust, dignity, and creating opportunity,” says Ariel Chant, Financial Empowerment Manager at NorthCountry. “We’re proud to stand alongside the Vermont Network in supporting survivors as they reclaim their financial futures.”
