Tips on How to Save Money at the Champlain Valley Fair

Savvy fairgoers use these tips to make their money go further at the Champlain Valley Fair.

Buy your gate passes in advance.

Missed your chance? You can still shave dollars off the full-price cost by checking the Champlain Valley Fair Fun Guide for daily specials, such as Vermont Foodbank Day when a donation of two non-perishable food items before 2pm gets you free admission. Or wait until after 5pm on any weekday and save $5.00.

Save on snacks.

Many food vendors participate in $4.00 specials Tuesday through Thursday, and free samples can be found almost any day in the Ware Building after cooking demonstrations and baking competitions.

Midway rides.

If going on rides is a part of your plan, consider springing for the ride bracelet so you can enjoy rides to your heart’s content. It’s typically less expensive in the long run than buying multiple tickets and saves you time by avoiding multiple trips to the ticket buying booth.

ATMs.

You’ll need cash for parking, but once you’re on the fairgrounds, you’ll find that most vendors accept debit and credit cards. If you prefer to use cash, bring as much as you’ll need unless you have a checking account that refunds ATM fees, because fairground ATM fees can add up quickly.

With a bit of planning, you can stretch your dollars without missing a thing. Have a fantastic time at the fair!
