Three Ways to Fight Online Fraud
We all know how crucial cybersecurity is, but it’s easy to forget just how vulnerable our money can be online. Keeping your financial data safe is a mix of common sense and using the right tools.
- Use a strong password. Ditch easy-to-guess stuff. Use complex combos, and change them regularly. Use two-factor authentication wherever you can.
- Watch out for phishing attempts. If something looks fishy, don’t click it. Scammers love pretending to be legit companies to steal your info. Don’t forget to monitor your accounts closely. Make it a habit to review your statements for anything suspicious. The quicker you catch fraud, the better.
- A good VPN is your friend, especially when banking or shopping online. Public Wi-Fi is an open invitation for hackers. Never use it to access anything that is sensitive, including digital banking, social media, or other platforms you would normally need a password to access. Use your data plan instead.
It all boils down to being aware and staying proactive. If you find yourself in a dangerous situation where your information has been compromised, be sure to give us a call first. We want to help you out and can advise you on the next steps to take.
