2008 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The purpose of the Scholarship Program is to recognize students who have:
(1) shown scholastic excellence
(2) expressed a desire to advance their education; and
(3) reflected the credit union philosophy of people helping people.


SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

NorthCountry Federal Credit Union will award fifteen (15) $2,000 scholarships to be paid directly to each accredited school of choice. Recipients shall be limited to one scholarship award. Each scholarship will be paid as follows: $1,000 will be awarded for the Fall 2008 semester; another $1,000 will be awarded for the Spring 2009 semester. If the recipient fails to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA during the Fall 2008 semester or if the recipient does not enroll in the Spring 2009 semester, the second scholarship installment will be forfeited. Recipients are required to provide the Scholarship Committee with a transcript of their fall semester prior to January 31, 2009.

ELIGIBILITY

1. Applicant must live or attend school in one of the following Vermont counties: Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans or Washington.
2. Applicant must be a high school student applying to an accredited undergraduate program at a college, trade school or university (minimum 6-credit semester or the equivalent).

REQUIREMENTS

1. Copy of your high school transcripts or GED (General Education Degree)
2. Lists of honors, awards, extracurricular activities, work history, and volunteer experience
3. Two short essays
4. Two long essays
5. Senior photo
6. Completed Scholarship Application form
7. Two written references
NOTE: Applications that are incomplete, late or not in accordance with directions will be ineligible.

SELECTION

For consideration, applications must be received by the credit union by 5:00 p.m. on April 11, 2008. No applications will be accepted after this date. Completed applications can be submitted at a branch or mailed. If mailing your application, please allow sufficient time for delivery. Mailed applications should be addressed to: Scholarship Committee, NorthCountry Federal Credit Union, 69 Swift Street, Suite 100, South Burlington, VT 05403. Upon receiving your application, we will mail you a confirmation letter. The credit union is not responsible for lost mail or delays in delivery of mail. Scholarship recipients will be notified at their school’s graduation or awards night.
NOTE: A selection panel will judge all applications. Applicants must show a strong history of effective volunteerism and a commitment to serving their community. This scholarship program may be discontinued at anytime without notice. If no qualified applications are received, NorthCountry Federal Credit Union reserves the right not to award any or all scholarships.scholarships.
